As part of its many activities, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) was pleased to host a special workshop creating a Community Peace Garden. This particular workshop took place on Friday September 9 from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 am at the Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia offering a place of creativity, education, relaxation, diversity, exercise and health to their students.

As part of its follow up to the I Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), which took place last September, GFDD organized initiatives aimed at encouraging Dominicans to forge a deeper connection with the environment.

Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) brought its School Vegetable Initiative to the students at the Loyola School and the Calazans School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on April 16 and April 20 respectively.  Students had the opportunity to become more familiar with organic vegetable cultivation and the ecosystem services of soils.

On Tuesday, April 24, GFDD’s Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) will bring its School Gardens Initiative to the Centro Educativo Los Prados in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Through the program, students will learn first-hand about organic agricultural production and the properties of recycled organic matter.

On Saturday January 12, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development's initiative, Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) will launch its 2013 School and Community Garden Program with a workshop and creation of a vegetable garden at the Rene Descartes School in Bani.

Santo Domingo, January 25, 2013

This week the Centro Cultural Perelló, located in Bani, in collaboration with GFDD/FUNGLODE, will be hosting a full program of activities the aim of which is to increase community awareness and promote environmental conservation and natural resources management.

Since its inception the program has created a total of 26 vegetable gardens across the country in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Cristobal, Baní, Monte Plata, and Azua.
