The GFDD's DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) took its School Gardens Initiative to the students of Calasanz School in Santo Domingo. The students had the opportunity to learn how to grow organic vegetables and about the environmental uses of the soil. They planted fast-growing vegetables such as lettuce, radishes, spinach and various herbs. It was a unique and educational experience for the students.
Since its inception the program has created a total of 26 vegetable gardens across the country in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Cristobal, Baní, Monte Plata, and Azua.
